Our Finds at Greenbrier State Park

Sometime in the fall, we went for a hike at the Greenbrier State Park near our home and were delighted to find a wide variety of fungi.

Mushrooms at the Greenridge State Forest

The Greenridge State Forest is a vast expanse of trees near Cumberland, MD. We hiked the woods there in September and found these mushrooms, and many more.

Names of the mushrooms are: First Row - sterneum ostrea and laccaria ochropurpurea; Second Row - armillaria mellea; Third row - lentinellus vulpinus and laetiporus sulphureus

We attended the Northeast Mycological Foray at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. Here, Danny poses with Gary Lincoff, author of "Audubon's Guide to Mushrooms."
Another famous personality at the foray was Roger Phillips, author of "Mushrooms of North America."

Morel Mania

Morels! Just the thought of these wonderful spring mushrooms gets our mouth watering for the tasty morel dishes. One of our favorites is morels with pasta and basil pesto - yum!

PEI and Cape Breton Island Finds

The top mushroom was found in Prince Edward Island on the trails by Cavendish Beach. The other mushroom was picked on the grounds of Fort Louisburg in Nova Scotia, Canada.

We found these while taking a walk around a relative's neighborhood in Chula Vista, California.
